1. Water retention. The body retains more water hence you will begin to feel bloated or puffy than usual. This occurs when your kidney hold on to extra water inorder to compensate for the extra sodium you took. 2. Your blood pressure shoots up. The salty food will cause a larger blood volume to flow through your blood vessels and arteries which may result in high blood pressure unless you are salt-resistant. People who are older or obese are more prone to this effect.

3. You will feel serious thirst or have dry mouth. This will make you drink more water as your body tries to correct the sodium-water ratio. Your increased fluid intake will also make your urinate more than usual. If you dont take in more water, you blood sodium levels rise rise above safe range and may cause a condition called hypernatremia which can cause seizures, coma and even death.
